SYLVIA CALVER: A CAN OF WORMS

September-October 2018

A Can of Worms — Sylvia Calver, undergraduate exhibitor — Gallery 1

October 30–November 3, 2018 Opening receptions: Monday 29 October, 5:30–7PM

In her paintings, Calver investigates texture and surface inspired by natural growths and organic patterns. Through additive and reductive techniques, the painted surface becomes sculptural. With attention to colour relations and an interest in dense heaping forms, the work evokes a life-like sensibility.

SYLVIA CALVER: CAKE

January 25, 2018

ANNA LEONOWENS GALLERY Tues-Fri 11am - 5pm Sat 12-4pm, 1891 Granville Street.

Sylvia Calver’s painting exhibition explores traditional cake decorating methods with oil paint, “creating a pseudo-psycho experience. Through colour, thickness and ornamentation, the artist has activated decorative forms and placed them in the history of painting. Cake is a playful experience presenting to the viewer just how delicious oil paint can be,” the gallery adds.
